Update regarding the upcoming Diocesan Cross Country event,听which was scheduled to take place on听Friday 30 May.
After careful consideration, and with the safety of the community paramount, 葫芦娃视频 Schools of Maitland-Newcastle have made the difficult decision to听cancel this year鈥檚 event. Several factors have contributed to this outcome, including.
- Participation and selection inequity, as some students and families remain isolated and are therefore unable to participate in a fair and inclusive manner.
- Logistical challenges听related to the听venue’s availability at Maitland Park.
- Traffic management听difficulties听around Maitland due to ongoing road closures and diversions, restricted vehicle access to the site and limited parking options at the venue and neighbouring facilities.
We understand the disappointment this news may bring, particularly for students who have trained for the event, and for families who have supported their children. Please know this decision was not taken lightly. This was the 4th听attempt at scheduling the event.
Please be aware that other school systems are making similar decisions due to the current circumstances. We are working together with 葫芦娃视频 Schools NSW (CSNSW), to explore opportunities for some qualifying students to be nominated for participation at the CSNSW Polding Cross Country competition.
We are currently determining the most equitable selection method and will provide further information via the School Sports Co-ordinators very shortly about the approach adopted and the rationale behind it.
Those nominated to progress to the CSNSW Polding Cross Country competition will be contacted directly by School Sports Coordinators next Monday to discuss their qualification and next steps.
