Here’s a snapshot of what has been happening across our Diocese this week!

Three generations celebrate 90 years of

“It’s very special and it hasn’t been planned or designed for us to have three generations in one school, but just through fate that’s the way it’s worked out,†Ms Castles said.

ONE family has spanned nine decades of catholic education at Waratah’s Corpus Christi Primary School.

The school was established in June 1935 through the work of the Dominican Sisters, and on Thursday, June 19, celebrated its 90thÌý²¹²Ô²Ô¾±±¹±ð°ù²õ²¹°ù²â.

Norma Tracey, now 96, was the school’s first paid secretary. Her daughter Louise Wilson continued in that role after her from 1987 to 2017.

Her granddaughter Katie Castles has been a teacher and religious education coordinator at the school since 2022.

unveils Worimi mural during Reconciliation Week

It was a day of community spirit when  celebrated Reconiliation Week with the unveiling of their Worimi seasons mural.

The vibrant and meaningful artwork painted by Worimi man Uncle Jason Russell will serve as a learning wall for generations of students.

Teacher for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Kristen Jones said the Raymond Terrace school wanted to have something on their school grounds that students could learn from for many years to come.

students rise to the challenge and do push-ups for mental health

STUDENTS dropped down to give those with mental health a boost in Lake Macquarie on Wednesday.

St Mary’s Gateshead students gathered down on the school oval on Wednesday, June 18, for the annual Push for Better Push Up Challenge, which raises funds and awareness for mental health.

Organised by the senior leaders, a total of 10,004 push-ups were completed by students from across year 7 to 12 to break their target of 3144.

Holy Spirit and St Francis Xavier Alumni, Charlie Hawke named in Senior Australian Swim Team

IT was the first thing Charlie Hawke would see when he bounced through the doors at Arnold Swim for training each morning.

Just past the old entrance was a framed picture of Thomas Fraser-Holmes in his Australian Dolphins team uniform.

It featured on a wall of fame at the iconic Junction swimming centre and home of Hunter Swim Club, which Hawke joined when he was 13.

Now, 22, Hawke has earned his own slice of history after being named in the Australian Dolphins team to contest the World Championships in Singapore, starting July 27.
